    International Scientific Conference – Cancer Research into Action 

    19 – 21 May 2026, Lyon, France – Halle Tony Garnier & International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) 

    The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC/WHO) is pleased to invite researchers, public health practitioners, and policymakers from around the world to submit abstracts for the IARC@60 international conference Cancer Research into Action. 

    This event, marking the 60th anniversary of IARC, will convene the global cancer research and public health community to translate cutting-edge science into meaningful action for cancer prevention and control.

     Submission form access requires prior congress pre-registration.

    Abstracts should highlight innovative research, practical applications, and interdisciplinary approaches within the following themes:

    Including but not limited to

    • Biomarkers
    • Novel exposures
    • Environmental and occupational factors
    • Early detection technologies
    • Planetary health

    Translating research into Public Health action
    Including but not limited to

    • Interventions
    • Vaccination strategies

    • Civil society engagement including from patient organizations
    • Low- and middle-income countries
    • Capacity-building

    Including but not limited to

    • Evidence-based policies
    • Commercial determinants of health
    • Financing cancer control

    • Science diplomacy
  • ELIGIBILITY AND ETHICAL STANDARDS

     Submissions are open to academic, clinical, institutional, and civil society researchers working in cancer prevention and control. 

     Abstracts from the private sector will not be accepted. 

     Abstracts must be original and scientifically sound. 

     
     By submitting, authors confirm approval of all co-authors and agree that accepted abstracts may be published in the official conference materials. 
  • GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

     Abstracts must be submitted in English using the official online submission form.  

     The abstract text (max. 500 words) should include: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions/Implications.  

     Please select the most relevant theme(s) when submitting.  

     
     Formats available: oral presentation or/and poster presentation (indicate your preference).  A maximum of 2 submissions are allowed.
     
     Submissions from early-career researchers ( < 7 years since highest degree/clinical training) are strongly encouraged.  
     
     Abstracts involving Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) should clearly indicate contributions, roles of partners, and capacity-building aspects.
