Valery Lemmens is an epidemiologist by training. He has over 20 years of experience in research using cancer registry data, focusing on organization and quality of oncological care, resulting in more than 350 peer-reviewed (co-)authorships. He has been a board member of the Comprehensive Cancer Organization the Netherlands and of Maastro radiotherapy clinic. He has been a full professor of cancer surveillance for 12 years, first at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam and now at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Valery Lemmens is editor of the section Epidemiology and prevention of the European Journal of Cancer, and member of the IARC Scientific Council 2023-2026.
