Professor Béatrice Fervers Centre Léon Bérard Lyon, France

Pr Béatrice Fervers (MD, PhD, HDR, Oncologist, Epidemiologist, Associate Professor), heads the Prevention Cancer Environment Department of the Léon Bérard Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CLB, Lyon, France, member of the national Federation of Cancer Centers UNICANCER). She is Deputy Director of the INSERM Unit 1296 ‘Radiations: Defense, Health, Environment’.

Pr Fervers coordinates the integrated prevention strategy of the CLB’s 2021-2025 medical-scientific program drawing on the expertise of the CLB's leading-edge players and technical facilities, and is member of the UNICANCER Prevention Steering Committee. Her research interests focusses on cancer primary and tertiary prevention combining observational and interventional research methods, in particular in Environmental epidemiology to advance the understanding of environmental cancer causes, and Exercise Oncology in cancer patients with six clinical trials on the effects of physical activity in cancer patients and survivors currently open for inclusion.

Béatrice Fervers is the Director of the National Cancer Primary Prevention Transdisciplinary Research Network CANCEPT, endorsed and funded by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa, 2022). CANCEPT gathers a key group of internationally renowned institutions and researchers with complementary high-level in human and behavioral sciences, social marketing, interventional & clinical research, health education & promotion, nutrition and epidemiology, as well as citizens and key stakeholders, to accelerate the translation of current and upcoming knowledge on cancer causes into effective and sustainable cancer prevention strategies.

Béatrice Fervers is a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Regional cancer research cluster Cancéropôle CLARA and coordinates the CLARA ‘Prevention and social innovation axes’. She held the Chair of excellence "Environment, Nutrition and Cancer" by the regional research cluster Cancéropole Lyon-Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (CLARA) with support from Merck Serono. She represents the Cancéropole CLARA in the Cancer Prevention Europe (CPE) consortium (IARC).
