Dr Yahya MAHAMAT-SALEH IARC LYON 07, France

Dr. Yahya is a cancer scientist and molecular epidemiologist in the Nutrition and Metabolism branch at the ARC/WHO, that he joined in January 2022. He is mainly working on omics data, particularly metabolomics and proteomics, lifestyle factors, and cancer risk. Yahya has been working for more than 10 years on lifestyle factors including nutritional factors, body fatness, biomarkers, and cancer risk. He has published more than 75 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Currently, he leads several projects that aims to evaluate 1) the role of stress and cancer using omics data and 2) identify metabolic pathways associated with the risk of triple-negative breast cancer using novel metabolomics approaches in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort, 3) using proteomics data to identify novel pathways associated with breast cancer risk in the EPIC cohort and 4) identify plasma metabolite profiles related to adherence to the WCRF score and studying their association with breast cancer risk in the Nurses' Health Studies in collaboration in collaboration with the department of Nutrition, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Dr. Yahya is also collaborating on several projects on etiological factors and cancer in developed and less developed countries. More particularly, he is interested in advancing breast cancer atiology in Africa. I look forward to contributing to ARC's research efforts by identifying lifestyle- and psychological-related markers to help reduce the global cancer burden in high- and low-middle-income countries.
